See us at The Calgary International Blues Festival August 7, 2010
After being a ‘virtual band' in Bob Deutscher’s basement since 1998, CheckOne2 comes to life on stage in collaboration with Calgary based musicians Mark Bishop on keyboard, guitar and vocals; Kent Macrae on drums and Murphy Martin on bass.
Originally from Regina, Saskatchewan, Bob played his first gig on lead guitar and vocals at the age of 14. Since the 60’s he has played in bands which have included Hans Staymer, Chan Romero (writer of ‘The Hippy Hippy Shake’) and Kenny Shields. He has shared the stage in support of artists such as The Seigel-Schwall Band, John Denver, John McLaughlin’s Mahavishnu Orchestra, Powder Blues and Streetheart and has backed up artists such as Bobby Hebb and Terry Black (Dr Music). He was lead guitarist with Winnipeg’s ‘Crowcuss’ having replaced Guess Who alumnus Greg Leskiw and in 1979 was on their ‘Starting To Show’ album on Stony Plain Records.
While residing for awhile in PEI Bob was co-winner of the 1987-1988 CBC Maritime Songwriting Contest with his song “Right Now”. In demo critique sessions he has impressed music business icons such as Steve Lillywhite and Bill Henderson with his guitar playing and songwriting talents.
After a period of retirement from the stage and having survived a life threatening bout with Primary Systemic Amyloidosis in 2006, Bob has been on the local jam scene for the last 3 years. As a singer, songwriter and guitarist he applies his intense style and knack for original arrangements to a hybrid mix of Memphis soul, blues and reggae with a rock & roll attitude.

Mark Bishop is a native of Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland. He began with piano in primary school but it was when he discovered the guitar at age 12 that his love affair with music began. Whether it's playing B3 organ with the pop-rock group Crush, electric guitar with Barry Canning or a solo gig, Mark is equally adept on guitars, keyboards and bass. With his rich soulful voice and recording/engineering skills he produced an album of originals in 2006 entitled “On and On”.
